Merrythought Great British teddy bear - Edward - Christopher Robin's Teddy Bear.
We are delighted to partner with fellow British heritage brand, Merrythought - one of the finest teddy bear makers in the world - to offer you a range of adorable soft toys that are handcrafted in Britain, using the finest natural materials.
And here is the most special of them all...
Edward is a beautiful replica of the teddy bear that inspired AA Milne's classic Winnie the Pooh stories. Originally created by Merrythought's forebear Farnell in 1921, Edward was recently brought to life again as the star of the feature film 'Goodbye Christopher Robin'.
Purchased by Daphne Milne for the first birthday of her son, Christopher Robin, Edward bear and his owner formed a unique bond and became the best of friends. However, after a trip to London Zoo the young boy renamed his bear after the resident black bear 'Winnepeg' or Winnie for short. Christopher's father, AA Milne, was enamoured by the partnership between the boy and his bear, and decided to pen stories about their journey through life together.
Hand-crafted in England using the same traditional artisan skills and premium materials as Christopher Robin's original Edward bear, this handsome gentleman features a rich antique golden mohair coat. His deep amber eyes show a longing to be loved, which together with a hand-embroidered nose and endearing smile, give him a quintessential charm that can only be found in a teddy bear of such timeless design and heritage. True to the original, the large Edward also 'growls' when tipped.
A special edition piece, each Edward bear is numbered and presented in a unique luxury 'Farnell by Merrythought' cloth gift bag. The perfect heirloom-quality gift for a special little one!
